Background

Oakleaf Jingles was founded by musician, composer, author, and teacher and all-around-good-guy Tyler Oakleaf.

Tyler was fortunate enough to be one of the very few people to ever study Jingle Writing and Production while attaining his bachelor degree at Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA.  At Berklee Tyler was mentored by one of the world’s greatest and most prolific jingle writers, songwriters and composers Jon Aldrich.  You will be hard pressed to find a writer more qualified, professional, and easy to deal with than Tyler.

A Better Jingle

In today’s market there are only a few main venues for getting a jingle produced.

The Big Cheap Jingle House

  • These guys are all about mass production.  They say they’re writing custom jingles, but really they are simply taking their old, generic jingles and overdubbing new words.  They advertise how cheap they are, but really you’re just getting more expensive canned music.
    • Think McDonald’s.

The Big Expensive Jingle House

  • These guys are all about money.  They cater to giant multi-national companies, and couldn’t care less about your 2-5K local/regional jingle.  They do a good job, but wouldn’t bother blowing on you if you were on fire.
    • Think one of those $12 latte joints (looking at you Starbucks).

Your Nephew’s Best Friend Who Has a Band and Writes a Bit

  • Maybe this person owns some recording equipment, maybe he/she plays weddings on the weekends, maybe he’s/she’s the hottest karaoke singer in town, and maybe.. rarely.. but maybe they’re legitimate musicians.  However, what they aren’t is knowledgeable about what makes for great advertising
    • Think Truck Stop
  • Even most professional musicians are very poor sales people, and frankly, that’s not what they’re interested in.  Often times they might even write you a very good piece of music, but not all good music is good advertising.  Beethoven probably won’t get your sneakers sold.
